History of Grama Panchayat

Paivalike Grama Panchayat was formed in November 1964 by merging the two villages of Paivalike and Chippar. In ancient times, this region was under the rule of the Tulu kings and the Ballal local rulers belonging to the Paiyaru dynasty. The name “Paivalike” is believed to have evolved from “Paiyaralika,” which was formed by combining the words “Paiyara” (family lineage) and “Aalike” (rule or governance). This region became part of Kerala following the linguistic reorganization of states in 1956.
